Standing desks are popular for good reasons, but they are not magic. Here is an honest look at the benefits and downsides of a standing desk, so you can decide if it fits your setup.
The benefits
- Encourages more movement through the day
- Reduces the slumping that comes with long sitting
- Many people feel more alert while standing
The downsides
- Standing all day tires your legs and feet
- It does not fix a screen that is too low
The honest takeaway
The real win is not standing all day, it is alternating between sitting and standing, and moving regularly. Whichever you do, keep your screen at eye level with a laptop stand.
